Live on the Plaza: Hiroya Tsukamoto

Hiroya Tsukamoto stands out as an exceptional composer, guitarist, and singer-songwriter hailing from Kyoto, Japan. He embarked on his musical journey with the five-string banjo at the age of thirteen and soon transitioned to the guitar.

In the year 2018, Hiroya clinched the runner-up position in the prestigious International Finger Style Guitar Championship. His musical prowess earned him a scholarship in 2000 to the renowned Berklee College of Music. During his time in Boston, he established his own ensemble, Interoceanico, comprising talented musicians from various continents, including the Latin Grammy-winning Colombian vocalist Marta Gomez. This group has been celebrated for their three albums: ‘The Other Side of the World’, ‘Confluencia’, and ‘Where the River Shines’.

Hiroya has also made his mark as a solo artist, releasing three albums titled ‘Solo’, ‘Heartland’, and ‘Places’. His international concert tours have included performances at the esteemed Blue Note in New York City, the United Nations, and on NHK, Japan’s national television.
